Hamilton Co. Schools and Highway Patrol announce plan to ensure bus safety
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Hamilton County Department of Education and the Tennessee Highway Patrol have announced a plan of action to ensure bus safety in the county.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol – in partnership with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and the Chattanooga Police Department – will ride and follow Woodmore Elementary School bus routes as well as other randomly selected routes in Hamilton County for the remainder of the academic year.
According to the Hamilton County Department of Education, the Tennessee Highway Patrol will concentrate on Woodmore routes while CPD and the Sheriff’s Office will cover other routes in the county.
The Hamilton County Department of Education says troopers, officer, and deputies will ride and/or follow routes as schedules and personnel allow.
Officials say the action plan will be evaluated weekly by administration.
