Hamilton County assistant principal suspended after arrest

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Hamilton County Schools assistant principal has been suspended during the investigation of a non-school-related assault incident.

Richard Leon Rorie is listed as the assistant principal of Normal Park Museum Magnet School in Hamilton County. He is assistant principal for upper school grades 6-8.

According to online court records in Montgomery County, Rorie was charged with domestic aggravated assault. He was arrested in Clarksville on June 11. It says the incident happened on June 10.

Steve Doremus, Hamilton County Schools Communication Officer, gave us this statement on the incident:

“Mr. Rorie is suspended from Hamilton County Schools pending investigation of a non-school-related matter.”

Rorie was given a $1,500 bond, records show. He is scheduled back in court on September 20, 2024.
