Hamilton County boy attacked by pit bull
It happened Thanksgiving morning in the 100 block of Daugherty Ferry Road.
According to a press release from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, the boy’s father told authorities his son was playing with the dog as he often did but for some reason, the dog attacked.
The owner of the dog has been identified as Preston Curtin. According to authorities, Curtin lives next to the boy’s home.
The victim reportedly sustained serious injuries to his upper left arm and minor injures to his chest. He was flown to an area hospital due to his serious injures.
According to officials at the Humane Educational Society in Chattanooga, the owner of the dog agreed to surrender the animal.
It’s unclear if any charges will be filed against the dog’s former owner.
A woman claiming to be the boys mother posted a message on the WDEF Facebook page asking people to pray for her son. As of 4PM, she said her son was still undergoing surgery.
