Hamilton County Commission Pulls Resolution to Withhold Funding from District Attorney

Hamilton County, TN (WDEF) – Hamilton County District Attorney General Neil Pinkston appeared before the county commission this morning to answer questions about employing his wife and her brother.

Commissioner Tim Boyd submitted a resolution to remove funding for employees in his office after a disagreement over changing the source of their pay, and whether they were paid by the county or the state. As an elected constitutional officer, Pinkston did not have to appear. He and Boyd ended up in a heated discussion.

Pinkston, “Everybody in this room knows that there are other county offices that employ relatives that work together. And so, if the county, a singular attack upon me and my office, are you willingly to do that, an audit of all county offices to address that question? (BOYD interrupts) (Smedley) “One at a time” “The other context is that you have a personal agenda against me.”

The commission, at the recommendation of Boyd, voted to pull the resolution.
