Hamilton County corrections officer arrested for DUI & child neglect

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  A Hamilton County corrections officer has been terminated after being arrested for a DUI and child neglect.

At 11:20 p.m. September 25, 2024, a Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputy found a silver Ford Fiesta not moving in the right-hand northbound of Hixson Pike.

Because the car was sitting still in the lane, other vehicles were having to maneuver around it.

The HCSO deputy attempted to conduct a well-being check on the driver.

After the deputy turned around, the car began driving northbound, driving at inconsistent speeds and failing to maintain their lane.

The deputy proceeded to conduct a traffic stop after these observations.

During the stop, the driver was identified as Olivia Roble.

Roble admitted to consuming alcohol.

After failing a field sobriety test, Roble was taken into custody.

It was discovered that Roble had left her 15-month-old child at home.

Deputies responded to her apartment to find the child safe.

Deputies proceeded to contact a family member to come get the child.

It was also determined that Roble was employed with the sheriff’s office as a corrections deputy.

Roble was terminated immediately, as she had not completed her 6-month probation period.

“The men and women of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office are held to the highest standards and the conduct displayed by Corrections Deputy Roble in this incident does not represent the character of a deputy or an employee of this agency. The fact that she chose to drive under the influence endangering others on our roadways and the fact she left her young child at home alone while doing so, demonstrates a severe lack of judgment and therefore I have terminated her employment effective immediately. I want this to be a clear message that if you choose to drive under the influence in this county, endangering the lives and safety of others, the HCSO is committed to removing you from our roadways, even if it’s one of our own employees,” said Sheriff Austin Garrett.
