Hamilton County deputies arrest juvenile after early morning pursuit
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — Deputies with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) arrested a juvenile after a pursuit on I-75 and I-24 early Friday morning.
At 1:50 a.m., January 3, 2025, deputies responded to the 3400 block of Jenkins Road after reports of five juveniles wearing hoodies, attempting to break into vehicles in the parking lot of an apartment complex.
Upon arrival, deputies observed a Hyundai sedan speedily leaving the parking.
HCSO stated deputies attempted to perform a traffic stop, however the vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit was shortly initiated.
During the pursuit, it was discovered the vehicle being driven by the juvenile was stolen.
The vehicle began traveling on I-75 southbound at excessive speeds, before getting on I-24.
Near the Browns Ferry Road exit, the vehicle lost control and crashed.
The driver left the scene on foot and was later found near a local business on the opposite side of the interstate.
Deputies recovered a loaded handgun, and the juvenile was taken into custody.
The juvenile is being charged with the following:
- Auto Theft
- Felony Evading
- Reckless Endangerment
- Possession of a Firearm While in the Commission of a Felony
- Texting & Driving
