Hamilton County Deputies Search for High Speed Pursuit Suspect
The Hamilton County sheriff’s office is searching for a man who they say led deputies on a high speed pursuit.
Sheriff’s officials say it all started as a routine traffic stop.
Around 8:40 Sunday evening, deputies initiated a traffic stop on a black SUV at the 1700 block of Highway 27 Southbound for driving with a revoked TN driver’s license.
The driver of the vehicle was positively identified as Mr. Terry Vandergriff.
Vandergriff fled the scene, leading a vehicle pursuit on Highway 27 where he exited at the Mountain Creek Road exit and continued to proceeded to Browntown Road into Red Bank.
Officials say speeds reached upwards of 100 miles per hour.
Red Bank authorities joined in the pursuit and spike strips were deployed, but missed.
The vehicle ultimately came to a stop in the woods at 9893 Lovell Road, where the suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot and eluded capture.
A passenger in the vehicle, Rebecca Ward was taken into custody for outstanding warrants.
Authorities say Vandergriff has several warrants, including felony evasion, driving on a revoked license, and drug paraphernalia.
