Hamilton County lawyer censured for third time

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Hamilton County lawyer Charles Gammons Wright, Jr. was censured on Friday.

The Board of Professional Responsibility of the Tennessee Supreme Court censured Wright for his delay in representing his client in a civil claim.

Additionally, they said Wright “failed to pursue his client’s legal objectives” and “failed to communicate with his client throughout the representation.”

The board said this violates Rules of Professional Conduct.

A censure is a public warning to an attorney, which does not hinder their ability to practice law.

Furthermore, this is not the first time Wright has received a public censure.

The board publicly censured Wright two times in 2020.

The first was in February. That censure stated that Wright did not notify his client of the “one-year statute of limitations prior to its expiration,” nor did he tell his client that he was no longer representing them.

The second public censure was in November of the same year. The board said Wright “negligently disclosed client confidential information” when trying to withdraw from representation.
