Hamilton County rejects permit for 184 homes on Ooltewah-Georgetown Rd
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The Hamilton County Commission voted to deny a “special exceptions” permit for a proposed housing development in the 10-thousand block of Ooltewah-Georgetown Road earlier today.
Although the permit was not approved, the developer will still be allowed to build on the property.
The commission denied the permit in a 6 to 3 vote.
The permit would have allowed Jooma Development to build 184 homes on the site.
They will still be able to build a development of up to 174 homes.
The main discussion among the commissioners focused on the lack of sewer service in the area.
Instead, the developer plans to build an on-site system, which was OK’d by the Waste Water Treatment Authority director.
