Hamilton County School Board Elections

RED BANK, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Hamilton County Schools District 2 School Board meeting was held today at Red Bank Community Center where Republican, Ben Daughtry, and Independant, Crystal Boehm, debated on what issues need to be addressed in Hamilton County Schools.

What makes this year’s school board election so interesting is because the state of Tennessee passed the ability for school board elections to be partisan, which has “shaken things up” for this year’s Hamilton County School Board Election.

“I think our school board worked just fine without being partisan…I chose to be Independent because I don’t believe the school board elections should have a political side,” said Hamilton County School Board Candidate, Crystal Boehm.

While this school board election is a little different this time around, both Crystal and Ben are both on the same page about running for all of the right reasons to get Hamilton County Schools on track.

“This is a selfless job you certainly don’t do it for the pay, you do it for the kids and that’s exactly what I seek to do and I’m confident I’ll be the best candidate going forward and make sure I’m the best candidate for all things across Hamilton County,” said Hamilton County School Board Candidate, Ben Daugherty.

The Hamilton County School Board election is on Thursday, August 1. Early voting runs from Friday, July 12 through Saturday, July 27.
