Hamilton County schools appoint a Chief Talent Officer
Dr. Zac Brown's job will be recruiting and retaining teachers and administrators
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tennessee (WDEF) – The Hamilton County schools are addressing the challenge of finding teachers and administrators by creating a Chief Talent Officer for the system.
Superintendent Dr. Justin Robertson is appointing Dr. Zac Brown to the job.
His new job will be leading the Human Resources and Benefits team in ” recruiting, retaining, and developing high-quality leaders, teachers, and support staff for Hamilton County Schools.”
Dr. Robertson calls it a vital role for the district in these times.
“Given the current competitiveness of the job market and the important role our employees play in the future of Hamilton County, it is critical that our Talent Department use both proven and innovative practices to recruit and retain the best talent possible
for our school system.”
Dr. Brown has already implemented the “Grow Your Own” program that allows non-teaching employees to become teachers.
He also has been involved in teacher recruiting and teacher mentoring over their first 3 years.
Dr. Robertson says “As a result, we are seeing a nearly 90% retention rate for our newest educators.”
Before moving into Central Office administration, Dr. Brown was a Principal at both Howard and East Ridge Highs.
