Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office exonerated in Wilkey case

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A jury has exonerated the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office in a lawsuit against a former deputy.

Maxwell Jarnagin accused Deputy Daniel Wilkey of assaulting him during an arrest.

Wilkey was charged with a variety of criminal complaints, including kidnapping in another case where he took a female suspect to the lake to be baptized instead of being arrested.

All the criminal charges were dropped when the district attorney who filed them lost re-election.
