Hamilton County Still Has Good Credit

Hamilton County (WDEF) – Credit is one of those things we don’t think about until you need it.

But Hamilton County has some of the best credit in Tennessee.

The mayor reports that Hamilton is the only Tennessee county to get a Triple-A bond rating from three different bond rating agencies; Moody’s, Fitch and Standard and Poor’s, again this year.

Mayor Jim Coppinger congratulates his financial team.

“These have been difficult financial times and our adherence to conservative fiscal governance allows us to be the only county in Tennessee to achieve this coveted AAA ranking from all three rating agencies. We are pleased that these efforts are acknowledged by experts in the financial world.”

Moody’s Investors Service concluded “Hamilton County is well managed. The county budgets conservatively and adheres to its formal fund balance policies.”

Mayor Coppinger adds, “What these evaluations mean to our taxpayers is we have the ability to borrow money at lower rates due to the AAA rating. This allows us to do more with our money for Hamilton County and its citizens in the months to come.”
