Harrah’s breaks ground on expansion of Murphy casino

MURPHY, North Carolina (WDEF) – Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel is growing.

On Thursday, the company broke ground on a new expansion project over the next couple of years.

The casino is adding more room on the gaming floor, a new hotel tower plus a rooftop restaurant.

The latest expansion comes in the 7th year.

General Manager Lumpy Lambert says “Since opening day we have continued to exceed all expectations set for us,” said Lambert. This will be our second expansion project since opening, with the first expansion completed back in 2017. We are grateful for the continued support we have received and look forward to welcoming guests to enjoy new experiences in 2024.”

Those new services include expanded gambling and hotel improvements:

— 50% more slot machines

— 12 additional table games

— 10 table World Series of Poker room

— expanded motorcoach lobby

— double the hotel rooms

— indoor pool

— fitness center and spa
