Harriman Woman Charged in Boyfriend’s Death

Cookeville, TN (WDEF) – Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, working alongside authorities from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, have arrested and charged a Harriman woman accused in connection to the death of her boyfriend.

On Friday, October 28th, at the request of 9th District Attorney General Russell Johnson, TBI Agents joined the investigation into the death of Ellis Hamby, Jr., 44, shortly after deputies from Morgan County found the man’s body inside the Leslie Drive home he shared with his girlfriend, Tonya Baughman, 46.

At the time of this release, autopsy results were pending, though preliminary information indicated Hamby died from gunshot wounds. During the course of the investigation, authorities developed information that led to Baughman as the individual responsible for Hamby’s death.
