HCS makes changes to School Choice program, offers informational sessions
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — Hamilton County Schools has increased the number of schools included in their “School Choice” lottery program for 2024-2025.
There are now more than 70 options for the school choice program, in grades Kindergarten through 12th.
“Choices include Workforce Development and College Schools, Future Ready Institutes, Magnet Schools, Charter Schools, and Open Enrollment Schools,” HCS said in a press release.

Lottery applications are open from November 13, 2023, through January 31, 2024.
“Schools with more applicants than space available will participate in a lottery to select students for available seats.”
HCS asks families to complete one single application and list up to five school choices.
They will be offering informational sessions to families interested in their “School Choice” program. All sessions last from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the following locations.
- November 30 – at CSLA, 4850 Jersey Pike, Chattanooga.
- December 7 – at Dalewood Middle School, 1300 Shallowford Rd, Chattanooga.
- December 12 – East Side Elementary School, 1603 S Lyerly St, Chattanooga.
- January 18 – Middle Valley Elementary School, 1609 Thrasher Pike, Hixson.
- January 25 – CSAS, 865 E 3rd St, Chattanooga.
