HCSO investigates four school threats, two students arrested

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) arrested two students after investigating four school threats throughout the county.

On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, the school resource deputy (SRD) at the Center for Creative Arts (CCA) was made aware of a possible school threat at 3:30 p.m.

After conducting an investigation, the SRD determined a 14-year-old male student made a threat, discussing “Blowing up the school”.

According to HCSO, an internet search of similar statements from the student was also discovered.

The student was taken into custody on a Threat of Mass Violence charge.

At 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, the SRD at Chattanooga Preparatory School was made aware of a possible school threat.

The SRD determined a student made a statement in a classroom, saying they would “shoot up the school”.

After the SRD located the student, they were arrested and taken to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center.

The student is being charged with Threat of Mass Violence.

On top of those two threats, there was a threat investigated at Hixson Middle School.

A juvenile that had access to a Snapchat account, and posted threats against Hixson Middle School.

HCSO handed the investigation over the Tennessee Department of Homeland Security (TDHS).

TDHS determined the juvenile responsible for posting the threats was not in state.

Another investigation was launched about a threat by HCO at East Hamilton High School.

After conducting the investigation, HCSO determined it was a non legitimate threat.
