HCSO Jail & Detention Center Graduates First 7 Inmates from MAT Program

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has graduated the first seven inmates from the Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) Program.

The program launched in December.

They say MAT Programs in jails use both FDA-approved medications and behavioral counseling to treat opioid and alcohol use disorders, aiming to reduce withdrawal symptoms, cravings, and recidivism.

The program is administered in coordination with Quality Correctional Health Care (QCHC) and the McNabb Center, ensuring comprehensive medical care and therapeutic support.

County-based care is provided after release.

Research demonstrates that MAT programs reduce drug use and overdose events while promoting recovery, the HCSO says.

The graduates are as follows:
· Darian Garrett
· Jacob Daniel
· DeJuan Underwood
· Peyton Adams
· Tyler Coyne
· Kenneth Rogers
· Ricky Brown
