HCSO SWAT responds to domestic incident
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – On Saturday at 10:30 p.m., deputies were called to the 6580 block of Charbell Street in response to a domestic disturbance.
When they arrived, they determined that the suspect, Zachariah Legate, had committed aggravated assault against the victim.
Investigators also learned that Legate had thrown rocks at the victim’s vehicle and struck the victim’s dog with a rake.
Authorities confirmed that Legate already had active warrants, including two counts of harassment and one for failure to appear in court.
Legate refused to leave the home and made several threatening statements toward deputies, prompting the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team to respond.
After securing an additional warrant, the SWAT team entered the residence and arrested Legate.
He resisted arrest and refused medical evaluation from the EMS crew staged at the scene, so he was transported to a local hospital for further assessment.
In addition to the existing warrants, Legate now faces several new charges:
•Aggravated Assault
•Simple Assault
•Cruelty to Animals
•Evading Arrest
•Resisting Arrest
He has also been charged with Assault on a First Responder. More charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
At this time, no further information is being released.
