Health experts continue seeing rise of flu in Hamilton County

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – Hamilton County Health Department continues to see a rise in flu cases.

Since the beginning of the year flu cases are up 15% in Hamilton County.

Family gatherings and staying indoors can help spread the virus.

We are at the peak of flu cases.

“There are a number of reasons why the flu is up. It is because it is wintertime, people are indoors, they are around people in close settings,” said Dr. Dawn Ford, Epidemiology Department Manager at the Health Department. “Flu contributes as well as school has gone back into session and also the college campuses.”

Health experts still encourage folks to still get vaccinated to help fight the flu.
