Henagar police officer arrested in ongoing child pornography investigation
DEKALB COUNTY, Al. (WDEF) — A Henagar police officer has been arrested following an investigation into the online distribution of child pornography.
The arrest stemmed from a report to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about a social media account sharing explicit material involving minors.
A DeKalb County Investigator, working with the Alabama Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, led the investigation.
On the morning of Thursday, April 24, 2025, a search warrant was executed at a Jackson County residence.
After examining IP address data, reviewing logs, collecting electronic devices, and interviewing witnesses, investigators identified Joshua Min Kwon, an officer with the Henagar Police Department, as a suspect.
Kwon was arrested Thursday evening and charged with Public Dissemination/Display of Obscene Matter to a Person Under 17.
He was taken to the DeKalb County Jail without incident.
The investigation is ongoing, and officials say additional charges may be filed as more evidence is reviewed.
