Here are the election dates for our region

Tennessee votes Tuesday, Georgia begins early voting today

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – It can be a confusing time for voters these days who live along a border.

There are elections in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee this month, but on different days.

TENNESSEE – May 3

(State & County primaries)

(Grundy & Sequatchie counties do not have Democratic primaries, but all have Republican races)

In Hamilton County, election day is Tuesday for local primaries.

The polls here will be open from 8AM-8PM.

Your districts and some polling locations may have changed because of redistricting.

You can get all the information you need before voting on Tuesday at the GoVoteTN app (free) or GoVoteTN.gov.

Voters will need to bring a photo ID (driver license or state/fed issued ID-no student IDs)

And poll officials say that voting midmorning or midafternoon are your best bets for avoiding lines.

GEORGIA – May 24

(state/federal primaries/nonpartisan state/special elections)

Early voting begins today, May 2nd

Georgia has fewer local races but highly contested state and federal races, highlighted by the Republican primaries for both Governor and U.S. Senate.

The general election is in November

NORTH CAROLINA – May 17

(state/federal/local primaries)

North Carolina has both local and state races, including a highly contested Senate race plus several candidates, both Democratic and Republican challenging Congressman Madison Cawthorn.

ALABAMA – May 24

(state/federal/local primaries)

Alabama has both local races and contested state and federal races.

The headliner has been a hotly contested Republican Primary for U.S. Senate to replace Richard Shelby.
