The “warrior dividends” that Mr. Trump announced Wednesday — essentially $1,776 end-of-year bonuses — are being sent to members of the active-duty military with a grade of O-6 or below, the White House said on X.

In the Army, Marine Corps and Air Force, that includes people with the officer rank of colonel or below, and in the Navy and Coast Guard, it covers people with the rank of captain or below. It’s not clear if there are limits on enlisted personnel.

Members of the military’s reserve components will also get checks if they were on active-duty orders of 31 days or more as of Nov. 30.

About 1.28 million members of the military’s active component and 174,000 reservists will get the supplement, a senior administration official said. The total cost of the one-time payments will be about $2.6 billion.

The official said the payments are funded through a $2.9 billion appropriation to the military’s Basic Allowance for Housing entitlement that was included in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act over the summer.
