Heritage Landing Road Fully Restored
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Heritage Landing Road is officially open to traffic following a restoration project that addressed a subsurface collapse at the entrance to the Heritage Landing neighborhood.
The closure was caused by a degraded drainage pipe that allowed soil to wash into the river, creating an underground void that eventually collapsed.
City crews used a different, more efficient approach to repair the road.
Instead of a traditional open-cut excavation, the team drilled a new path and installed a fresh casing, a method that saved time, taxpayer money, and kept workers safe.
Project Manager Daylen Brown said the road reopened 21 days ahead of the estimated contract end date.
The city is completing final safety measures, including custom pavement markings for pedestrian and bike lanes.
Additional delineators will be installed to provide a physical buffer between traffic and pedestrians.
