HES giving away winter shelters for outdoor cats
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Hamilton County residents can pick up winter shelters for outdoor cats at the Humane Educational Society (HES).
HES volunteers have created several of these shelters made from coolers filled with straw.
The organization said they had about 30 shelters on Tuesday, December 12.
The public can come pick up shelters while supplies last. HES is giving them out on a first-come, first-served basis.
Pick up times are Tuesday to Saturday from noon to 5 p.m., and on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. HES is closed on Mondays.
“These cats… they’re kind of domestic, but a little bit wild. So, they still depend on humans for help,” said HES Community Outreach Manager Jeanine Cloyd. “And so, humans feed them, as well as hopefully provide some really nice housing for them for protection in the winter months.”
The shelters are free of charge.
