CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The Humane Educational Society is expanding their adoption outreach amid capacity issues.
They held their first Coffee and Cuddles Adoption event at the Mean Mug Coffeehouse on Main Street Friday morning.
The Humane Educational Society says they have essentially run out of kennel space.
They say a handful of cases have brought in a large number of animals which has heightened the need for adoptions.
Christopher Atib, the director of development for the Humane Educational Society, said, “We are setting up kennels in humane areas around the outside of the shelter. Obviously, all the kennels inside the shelter are full right now, both with cats and dogs. So we’re really encouraging people to come out, foster some of our animals and help free up space.”
They do say there was an adoption at the event.
There were also copies of a book explicitly written for dogs given away that include various smells such as bacon and sounds such as doorbells.
