Heupel and the Vols Ready to Get Season Underway
Said Vols head coach Josh Heupel:”Best five words in Tennessee is ‘It’s Football Time in Tennessee.’
I’m here. I’m going to say a bunch of words, but it’s time to go play.”
No need for fancy motto’s either.
Said linebacker Aaron Beasley:”Like a motto?”
Reporter:”Yeah. What’s your motto? What’s your mindset?”
Said Beasley:”Just go win. Win’em all man. I say that. Our team goal in general is just win the east.”
Vols will look to go win with quarterback Joe Milton, who stayed with the team, despite losing the starting job to Hendon Hooker last year.
Said Heupel:”Excited for him. He’s a guy that did it the right way when it didn’t go his way early on. Looked at himself. Here’s how I need to continue to improve to get better. Trusted his coaches. The program. Believed in the guys too inside the locker room.”
Vols are expected to truck the Cavaliers. They’re favored by four touchdowns. Not many expect Virginia’s offense to keep up with Tennessee.
Said Beasley:”They like to do a lot of motions. They like to try to get the ball on the perimeter to get you out-leveraged. In that way do a lot of play-action. Lot of boots. They’ll take their shots. It should be a good challenge for us.”
Heupel hopes the Vols are up to the challenge with their rushing attack.
Said Heupel:”You know they’ve done a good job against the run. We’ve got to do a really good job of being dialed in our protections. Our run schemes. Make sure we’re targeting the right people. Question was brought up earlier. Do our assignments. Handle our assignments at a really high level. Be really good in our communication and go execute.”
