Hiker rescued after falling off Signal Point trail

SIGNAL MOUNTAIN, Tenn. (WDEF) – Saturday Morning, several agencies responded to Signal Point Trail on Signal Mountain due to a hiker who had fallen off the bluff.

According to the Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management, 2 male hikers from Georgia started walking down Signal Point trail at 10:45 am.

By 11:00 am one of the hikers called a 9-1-1, reporting that his friend had fallen off the trail. 

Signal Mountain Fire, Waldens Ridge Emergency Service (WRES), and HCEMS hiked down 1/4 mile down Signal Point Trail to set up a rope system and repelled down 200 feet to the injured hiker.

At 12:15 pm, rescue personnel assessed the hiker’s injuries and packaged him and started the rope system haul up the mountain.
