Hixson couple is sent to the hospital following house fire

HXISON, Tenn. (WDEF) – One couple is sent to the hospital after escaping their burning home early Wednesday morning.

At 2:43 AM, firefighters were dispatched to the 4800 block of Sarasota Drive following a panicked 911 call as the residents tried to get out.

Upon arrival, they found a single-story home engulfed in flames with both occupants outside but in need of medical assistance.

The patients were rushed to the hospital with smoke inhalation.

Due to the size of the structure fire, defensive firefighting operations were established to bring the fire under control. An aerial master stream was used to extinguish remaining hot spots.

The cause of the fire will be under investigation, and the home is considered a total loss.
