Hixson family escapes house fire

Denise Seaton smelled smoke throughout her house.

She found heavy smoke coming from a ceiling fan and pouring through the vents in the dining room.

Fire officials say she screamed for her family to get out of the house and called 911.

Dallas Bay Volunteer Firefighters noticed the fire had spread inside the walls from the main floor to the second floor.

They contained it within 15 minutes and saved the house from burning to the ground.

There were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $25,000.

The family will be staying with friends.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
