Hixson house faces considerable fire damage

HIXSON, Tenn. (WDEF) — A house fire in Hixson resulted in $20,000 worth of damage, according to the Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management.

Dallas Bay Fire and Rescue responded to the fire around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday after a woman found her home filling with smoke.

When firefighters arrived at the home, located at 1849 Joseph Terrace, they found heavy smoke as well.

The residents escaped without any injuries.

Hamilton County said the fire was out within 30 minutes.

They add that the homeowner will be staying with family members during this time.

So far, the cause of the fire is unknown. However, authorities said it originated in the void space between two floors.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating to determine the cause.

Due to high heat, firefighters also called in a mutual aid response. Three Dallas Bay stations, Mowbray VFD, Soddy Daisy FD, HCSO and HCEMS all assisted, according to Dallas Bay firefighters.
