HK Architects Approved for Health Department Project
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Hamilton County Board of Commissioners met Wednesday afternoon for their weekly meeting to discuss future plans with the Health Department.
While discussing the overall plans of the Health Department, the Board officially approved the firm HK Architects to design the new Hamilton County Health Department.
With the current Health Department being functional, areas of concern are arising related to the use of space, locations of departments, and what services are currently being provided versus what services should be being provided.
The Health Department is currently operating in a one-hundred-thousand-square-foot building which is not suitable for the wants and needs of overall services.
Regarding spacing, the building plans hope to relocate the pharmacy, which is currently serving customers in the loading dock area with a decline in temperature control, as well as other various services.
The location of the building is to be further discussed in next week’s meetings as the decision was awaiting the approval of the architect to allow for further input.
Todd Leamon, Administrator of Public Works, stated “We have to make sure we define a scope relative to accurately define a scope relative to size, location, square footage to the point about what services are provided, and what clients are coming in” in regard to the discussion of next steps in the expansion process.
The new Hamilton County Health Department, now officially being designed by HK Architects, will stand as a beacon of health, innovation, and community for future generations.
With a focus on sustainability, wellness, and accessibility, this project will elevate the standard for public health facilities across the region by meeting the wants and needs of the community.
