Homeless Man Arrested for Setting Different Fires Around the City
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A homeless man has been arrested after setting several different fires around the city, according to the Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD).
At 8 a.m. on February 8, CFD units were dispatched to the Walgreens at the corner of Shallowford Road and Gunbarrel Road where someone had set bundles of cardboard on fire at the back of the business.
An employee smelled something burning and discovered the fire, prompting firefighters to respond and extinguish the fire.
Then at noon on February 8, the CFD responded to the Shell station at 7022 Shallowford Road where brush was burning along the interstate after being intentionally set ablaze, CFD says.
CPD had a suspect in custody and he was positively identified by Walgreens employees as the same suspect from their fire earlier in the day.
Daniel Roden, 40, was arrested and charged with:
*Reckless Burning (x2)
*Reckless Endangerment (x2)
