Homeless man charged with arson in Georgia school fire
BROOKHAVEN, Ga. (AP) – A homeless man has been arrested in connection with a fire at an Atlanta-area private school.
Media outlets report 40-year-old Michael Hornbuckle was recently arrested in the Buckhead area of Atlanta after police received several tips following the release of surveillance video.
DeKalb Fire Rescue Captain Eric Jackson says the fire started around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Martin’s Episcopal School in Brookhaven. He says the fire burned the early childhood part of the school. It includes a science lab from which several animals were rescued.
Jackson described the damage as extensive. No injuries were reported.
It’s unclear if Hornbuckle has an attorney.
