Homicide investigation underway in Sequatchie County

UPDATE:

Authorities have released new details regarding an incident that occurred at 466 Powerline Rd. in Dunlap, TN.

According to investigators, Johnathan Belk returned home from a trip and confronted Billy Jean Floyd, who was present at the residence with Belk’s wife, Jada Gholston.

Investigators believe that Belk assaulted both Floyd and Gholston, resulting in injuries to Gholston and the death of Floyd.

Belk has been taken into custody at the Sequatchie County Jail and is facing multiple charges, including Criminal Homicide.

As the investigation remains active, additional information cannot be disclosed at this time due to pending legal proceedings.

SEQUATCHIE COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after being called to the Emergency Room at Erlanger-Sequatchie for a woman with stab wounds that were not life-threatening.

The Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that is believed to have occurred early on March 8, 2025.

Deputies were called to the Emergency Room at Erlanger-Sequatchie after a report of a woman with stab wounds that were determined to be non-life-threatening.

After speaking with the victim, deputies determined that the incident took place at a residence in the Fredonia community of Sequatchie County.

They then proceeded to the location to search for other victims, suspects, and evidence of the crime.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered two men with injuries believed to have been caused by a cutting instrument.

One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other had non-life-threatening wounds.

Authorities believe that all individuals directly involved in the incident are currently detained.

However, names are being withheld until family members have been notified.

There is to be an update soon with more information, including the names of those involved and the location address.

Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office says criminal charges are also expected to be filed in relation to this incident.
