Homicide and forcible rape cases have increased in Tennessee

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF) – Homicides and forcible rape cases have throughout the state according to new statistics that were released by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

According to the TBI, the annual study compiles data from each law enforcement agency in Tennessee through the Tennessee Incident Based Reporting System.

According to that system, statewide homicides have increased by 9.4-percent. Forcible rape has also increased by 2.4-percent.  Methamphetamine offenses increased from 4,362 in 2014 to 6,275 in 2015.

The study also shows the number of narcotic, prostitution and burglary offenses have declined last year.

Simple assault cases account for 67-percent of all domestic violence offenses.

TBI released a quote from the Director about the recent data.
