Hot Shooting Georgia Downs Chattanooga 86-55
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) – Georgia guard Kenny Gaines scored 25 points and paced four Bulldogs in double figures during an 86-55 win at Chattanooga on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs opened the second half with a 16-5 run to pull away from Chattanooga in the middle game of a two-for-one series with the Bulldogs.
Georgia (4-3) found a shooting touch that had been missing in its previous games. They entered shooting 25.8 percent from 3-point range. They shot 7 of 11 from beyond arc and 63.3 percent from the floor.
Georgia forward Marcus Thornton scored 24 points on 10-of-11 shooting, Charles Mann scored 14 points and Nemanja Djurisic added 10 points.
Junior Casey Jones led Chattanooga (3-5) with 19 points. UTC shot only 21.4-percent in the second half.
The Bulldogs led 39-32 at halftime after never trailing before the break. They opened up a 20-point lead with 12:30 to go and finished with a 39-24 advantage in rebounding.
