Hotdog on Wheels Bring Smiles

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – You might have spotted something hot dog-shaped rolling through town this week!

The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is in Chattanooga through Monday, bringing smiles, fun, and a playful sense of nostalgia to the community.

This iconic vehicle has been an American symbol since 1936, when the very first Wienermobile was designed by Oscar Mayer’s nephew, Carl G. Mayer.

Over the decades, the Wienermobile has evolved into the 27-foot hot dog-shaped vehicle we know today, complete with its bright orange and yellow colors, a horn that plays the Oscar Mayer jingle, and a team of specially trained Hotdoggers who serve as ambassadors on its nationwide tour.

Only six Wienermobiles are on the road at any given time. They travel coast to coast and appear at festivals, community events, schools, and local attractions.

The Hotdoggers are responsible for driving, coordinating events, and sharing the fun history of the Wienermobile, including giving out wiener whistles, coupons, and other freebies, and making sure every visit is memorable.

While it is in Chattanooga, visitors can see the Wienermobile up close, snap photos, and even get the chance to sit in the playful ketchup and mustard chairs for the perfect family or friend photo. If you want to track down the Wienermobile visit oscarmayer.com/wienermobile for more information.

Fans can also watch for the Hotdoggers as they drive through town, waving to locals, honking the horn, and spreading the joy this quirky piece of Americana is known for.

The Wienermobile has become more than a promotional vehicle. It is a cultural icon featured in parades, TV shows, and even museums.

From its earliest days to today, it continues to connect people through nostalgia, laughter, and fun, reminding everyone why hot dogs and the Wienermobile hold a special place in American hearts.
