Howl at the Moon and help an animal with special needs

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) – The Humane Educational Society of Hamilton County is hosting a late night riverboat ride along the Chattanooga River they hope will help animals with special needs.

It’s called "Howl at the Moon" and it’s slated as a fun event this Saturday night at 10:30 on board the Southern Bell Riverboat.

Tickets are $50. H.E.S. Executive Director Bob Citrullo said the money will help several of the animals at the shelter that require special services before they can be adopted to forever families.

One of the handful of special needs animals is Princess. She’s a four month old puppy who was hit by a car and suffered a broken leg. The Humane Educational Society paid for the surgery that not only saved her leg but potentially her life.

"So we had the surgery completed for her and we installed two pins in her legs. These pins will need to be removed in about four weeks but best thing about it is that we expect a 100-percent recovery. That’s why we’re doing this fundraiser.

Tickets to Howl at the Moon can be purchased at heschatt.com or in person at the pier. For more information please call 624-5302.
