HPAI Detected in Walker County Poultry Flock

WALKER COUNTY — Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) has been detected in a commercial poultry flock in Walker County, according to Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper.

He shares there is no threat to the safety and security of the state’s food supply.

“We immediately brought our Georgia Department of Agriculture Emergency Operations Center online and deployed our Emergency Management Team to the affected premises to prevent any further spread of the virus.”

– Harper said.

Operations are ongoing.
