Hunter Middle School student arrested after threatening mass violence
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Hunter Middle School student was arrested and charged after threatening mass violence against the school.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) reported on September 9, 2024, a QuickTip Alert was received by Hamilton County Department of Education Officials at 1:30 p.m.
A Hunter Middle School student submitted the tip, saying another student stated they would “bomb the school”.
The School Resource Deputy (SRD) assigned to Hunter Middle School was contacted, and was able to identify and isolate the suspect for questioning.
The SRD received written statements from other students who heard the student say he wanted to “blow up the school”.
After obtaining statements and questioning the suspect, the student was arrested and taken to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with Threats of Mass Violence.
