Husband charged with shooting his wife Sunday morning
ATHENS, Tennessee (WDEF) – The McMinn County Sheriff says a man has confessed that he shot his wife at their home over the weekend.
Joanne Johnson was shot at least two times around 5 AM on Sunday morning at the home on County Road 783.
When deputies arrived, they say Jan Johnson told them he shot his wife after becoming angry with her.
“Mr. Johnson seemed to think there were some marital problems going on,” said Sheriff Guy. “He claimed that he’d become upset at some of his wife’s behavior and decided to take her life.”
Mrs. Johnson is in the hospital.
Mr. Johnson faces a charge of Attempted First Degree Murder.
