I-24 lane closures set for weekend construction

MGN

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  Drivers traveling through the I-75 and I-24 interchange could expect nightly lane closures as the Phase 2 reconstruction project continues.

I-24 East will be reduced from three lanes to two lanes starting Friday, February 7, at 9:00 p.m.

This reduction should wrap up on the morning of Tuesday, February 11, at 6:00 a.m.

According to TDOT, the contractor will be shifting the current traffic alignment in this area from the inside to the new outside lanes.

A new third lane will be constructed between February 7 & 11.

The third lane is expected to reopen on or before Tuesday morning at 6:00 a.m.

This construction is highly weather sensitive, and if canceled, it will be rescheduled to the next available weekend.

TDOT stated it may be necessary to do 15 to 30 minutes rolling roadblocks during the day or night for patching potholes.
