Airbus Damaged By Hail Lands Safely
An Austrian Airlines flight landed safely on Sunday after hail damaged the plane’s nose and cockpit windows. The aircraft ran into a “thunderstorm cell” which was not visible on weather radar, according to the crew. Fortunately, the Airbus A320 was able to land in Vienna safely. While the windows were badly damaged, they remained intact. “As of now, the hail has damaged the two front cockpit windows, the aircraft nose and some coverings,” the airline said. Passenger Emmeley Oakley said that while the flight was rocky, they didn’t know the nose of the plane was missing until they de-planed. (NY Post)
