Amazon Tribe Exposed To Internet Addicted To Social Media, Adult Content

The Amazonian Marubo tribe received internet through the Starlink service nine months ago, but not everyone agrees that internet access has helped their community. Member Alfredo says that young Marubo men have been sharing adult content and have become more aggressive. “Everyone is so connected that sometimes they don’t even talk to their own family,” he said. However, members can now receive fast medical help and explore different opportunities. “Some young people maintain our traditions,” TamaSay Marubo said. “Others just want to spend the whole afternoon on their phones.” Marubo leaders have already put screen time limits in place.
