Atlanta Police Arrest Six Squatters For Car Theft

South Fulton police arrested six squatters who have been living in a half-a-million dollar home…for car theft. The six suspects had been staying in the home for five months when they allegedly stole a neighbor’s car while she was out of town. “Squatters stole her car and they brought it back over here to drive it in the driveway,” Mel Keyton of the Hampton Oaks Homeowners Association said. The vehicle has since been returned to its owner. Local residents are hoping a new law will make it easier to evict squatters. House Bill 1017, known as the Georgia Squatter Reform Act, will require offenders to provide authorization of consent within three days or face arrest. (dailymail.co.uk)
