CDC Says 3 Women Diagnosed With HIV After Vampire Facial

Three women were diagnosed with HIV after receiving “vampire facials” at an unlicensed spa in New Mexico.

An investigation into the spa found it had reused disposable equipment. These are the first documented cases of the disease being transmitted through a cosmetic procedure using needles.

The spa has been closed and the owner was prosecuted for practicing medicine without a license. (NPR)
