Detroit Officer Appears Pantless During Zoom Court Hearing

Detroit police officer Matthew Jackson appeared without pants during a Monday Zoom hearing in Michigan’s 36th District Court, prompting Judge Sean Perkins to ask, “You got some pants on, officer?” Jackson replied “No, sir,” and adjusted his camera to hide his lower body. The officer wore his police uniform top and underwear during the reckless driving and public intoxication case hearing. Despite the incident, Perkins continued the proceedings normally. The Detroit Police Department is investigating and plans to discuss proper court etiquette with officers. Perkins told a fellow judge he was “shocked” by the incident involving Jackson, whom he described as normally very professional and courteous to citizens. The 36th District Court requires “casual business attire” and prohibits clothing “not suitable in a Court or any other professional environment.” (Story URL)
