Japanese Supermarket Tests Ultra-Slow Checkout
While most companies are looking to speed up the checkout process, one Japanese supermarket is testing a slower process. The store, located in the Fukuoka Prefecture, was testing a lane specifically for the elderly and disabled. However, the line has become popular for a wider portion of customers who simply dislike feeling rushed. In fact, the store claims sales have increased by 10% since testing the slower lane. Customers in the slower lane can count their money without feeling rushed, bag groceries at their own pace, and chat with the cashier. Shoppers are permitted to spend up to 20 minutes at the register asking about promotions, payment options, and products. (Oddity Central)
