Man Breaks Into Circle K, Tells Police Voices And AI Implant Made Him Do It
Kohl Bertels faces burglary charges after kicking in the glass door of a Circle K store in St. Charles, Missouri, then consuming beef jerky and sweet tea without payment. Police found Bertels inside the locked convenience store and detained him for questioning. Bertels confessed to the break-in, telling officers “the voices in my head told me to kick it open since it was locked” and claimed he “just wanted to use the bathroom.” He also made claims about an artificial intelligence implant, though its role in the alleged crime remains unclear. Bertels walked to the Missouri store from Illinois, approximately 40 miles from his residence. He was charged with felony burglary, second-degree misdemeanor property damage, and theft of property valued under $150. Bertels is held on $2,500 cash bond and must avoid Circle K contact while submitting to mental health evaluation if released. (Story URL)
